Although it is preferred that sessions take place in person, for those who are not able to do so, there is always the option of planning your sessions online.
Why would someone choose online sessions?
Online sessions do not really differ from in-person ones, regarding the structure and content. However, if the psychologist in collaboration with the client decide that in-person sessions would be mostly beneficial, this is discussed in the course of therapy.
Why would someone choose online sessions?
- I am living abroad and I am not able to find a mental health professional who fits my needs (either due to language barriers or other factors)
- My job/living conditions require that I travel a lot and move across different places
- I prefer to start the process of having therapy in a more distanced way for now, in order to check whether this fits and how I can feel supported through this
- The cost of online sessions fits more my financial status for now
